What is the meaning of Adam's saying to Eve when his soul was taken: "Get away from me, for I was only afflicted by you"?

The aforementioned hadith (definition) concerning Ubayy ibn Ka'b about Adam's death and his saying to Eve, "Get away from me; I was afflicted because of you," is not authentic, neither as a marfu' (attributed to the Prophet) nor as a mawquf (attributed to a Companion). Its defect lies with Utayy ibn Damrah, who is unknown in status (majhul al-hal), and Al-Hasan (definition) Al-Basri committed tadlis (deception by concealing a defect in the chain) regarding him. The interpretation of Adam's words, "Get away from me," means "move away from me," and that what befell him was because of her. This famous meaning that Eve tempted Adam is not established by any authentic text from the Quran or Sunnah (definition). The Quran attributes the action to both of them, as in His (SWT) saying: ﴿But Satan caused them to slip out of it﴾, and ﴿Then Satan whispered to them﴾. What is reported in some narrations from Ibn Abbas regarding Eve beautifying for Adam the act of eating from the tree does not take the ruling of a marfu' narration, because it might be from what he received from the People of the Book, and because the Quran contradicts it. As for the hadith, "Had it not been for Eve, no female would ever betray her husband," the betrayal mentioned therein is interpreted as abandoning counsel, not committing immoralities. Therefore, one must adhere to authentic texts in matters of the unseen and avoid Isra'iliyyat (narrations of Jewish origin).
