Is the feeling of an open heart and intense joy in life accompanied by extensive acts of worship an indication of goodness and forgiveness?
The expansion of the chest (inner peace) is one of the effects of performing good deeds. Obedience to Allah the Almighty is a cause for the light of the heart and the joy of the soul, while sin is darkness and constriction. Allah the Almighty says: "Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do" (An-Nahl: 97). The good life includes aspects of comfort, and it has been interpreted as lawful provision, contentment, happiness, worship, and acting in obedience with inner peace. The feeling of happiness when performing an act of obedience and your joy in it is a sign of sincerity and truthfulness, and an indication of its acceptance. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever is pleased by his good deed and displeased by his evil deed, that is the believer."
