Why doesn't one feel happiness and comfort when performing acts of obedience, even though performing acts of obedience increases an intense fear of death and causes physical pain?

After performing an act of worship, a Muslim should be in a state between fear and hope. They should fear that their act might not be accepted and hope that Allah will accept it and elevate them through it. Therefore, you must have a good opinion of Allah, trust in Him, and hope for His mercy, as stated in the Hadith Qudsi: "I am as My servant thinks of Me," and "O son of Adam, so long as you invoke Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind." Do good deeds and feel their reward, and know that Allah loves the pious, the virtuous, and those who repent. The righteous await death with longing to meet their Lord, and it has been narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions longed to meet Allah at the time of death. Be optimistic about what is with Allah and do not despair of His spirit. Be steadfast and virtuous, for "Is the reward for good anything but good?" The pleasure of worship might be delayed as a trial, so beware of Iblis's deception. Read about the explanation of Allah's Most Beautiful Names, and Ibn Al-Qayyim's book "Hadi Al-Arwah ila Bilad Al-Afrah" (The Guide of Souls to the Lands of Joys), and Ibn Rajab's "Istinshaq Naseem Al-Uns min Nafahat Riyad Al-Quds" (Inhaling the Breeze of Intimacy from the Fragrances of the Gardens of Holiness).
