Is it considered hypocrisy and a sin not to forgive those who have wronged me while treating them kindly?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

You have done well in treating those who wronged you with kindness. You are not to be blamed for the lack of satisfaction in your heart regarding them and for remembering their transgressions, but you must not harbor malice against them. Allah has granted you success in enduring harm and not retaliating in kind. We advise you not to believe those who spread these sins; rather, it is necessary to reprimand them and forbid them from undertaking such actions. Your treating those who wronged you with good conduct is not hypocrisy; rather, it is something required by Islamic law. We advise against frequently burdening your husband and constantly informing him of these matters, so as not to inflame his heart against his mother, as this could lead to undutifulness. Seek your reward from Allah. May Allah increase you in patience and forgiveness, and may He count you among His righteous servants.
