How accurate is the information reported about the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, such as his mother Amina seeing prophets, light emanating from him at his birth, angels surrounding Mecca on his birthday, idols falling and the iwan of Kisra cracking, his not having a shadow, his seeing from behind, his heart not sleeping, food glorifying Allah in his hands, the scent of perfume emanating from his sweat, his not having a known height, animals recognizing him, the earth swallowing his waste, flies and insects not approaching him, and his being born circumcised, and what are the correct sayings regarding this?

No text has been reported stating that prophets gave glad tidings to Aminah about the birth of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and what has been reported in that regard is weak. It has been authenticated that a light emanated, illuminating the palaces of Syria at his birth, peace be upon him, just as it has been authenticated that this was seen in a dream by the mothers of the prophets. It is authenticated in the Sunnah that the Prophet, peace be upon him, his eyes would sleep but his heart would not, and his seeing what was behind his back in prayer, but not elsewhere, is authenticated. Al-Hakam ibn Abi al-As, the father of Marwan, was expelled from Medina by the Prophet, peace be upon him, and it was said: because he used to divulge secrets and imitate the Prophet, peace be upon him. The Prophet, peace be upon him, was of moderate height, neither tall nor short, tending towards tallness, and the glorification of food in his hands is authenticated. As for his birth circumcised, his shadow, and flies not coming near him, no authentic hadith has been reported regarding them. His pleasant scent and the fragrance of his hand sweat are authenticated, and there is a difference of opinion regarding the purity of his excretions, peace be upon him, and the preponderant opinion is their purity.
