What is the ruling on one who experiences obsessive doubts regarding allusive divorce pronouncements, leading him to make a vow to Allah that his wife will not be forbidden to him, yet the obsessive doubt only dissipates when he says: "It is for my worship" or "for anyone"?

Kinayah (allusive expression) of divorce is every utterance that indicates separation but is not explicit in divorce, such as "Go to your family" or "I don't want you." Divorce by kinayah does not occur unless the husband intends to effect it. We advise you to stay away from the whispers (waswas) of divorce, for not every utterance is considered a kinayah of divorce, and the cure for whispers is to disregard them and not pay attention to them.
