Which of the two is more severely afflicted and receives a greater reward: the couple who are blessed with children, then one of their children dies, or the couple who cannot conceive children due to infertility and endure that tribulation with patience?

The affliction of infertility is a trial that expiates sins and elevates ranks for those who endure with patience and contentment with Allah's decree, similar to patiently enduring the loss of a child. The most severely tested people are the Prophets, then those who are most like them, and then those who are most like the latter. A person is tested according to the degree of their faith, and trials continue until they leave the servant without sin.
