Is it permissible for a niqabi woman to marry a man who works in a bank?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the bank adheres to Sharia principles, there is no harm in marrying someone who works there. However, if it does not adhere to them, then working there is forbidden, due to its cooperation in sin and aggression, and because the Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed the one who consumes interest, the one who pays it, the one who writes it down, and its two witnesses. The salary in this case is not good. The sister should stipulate to him that he must leave this forbidden work and explain its danger to him, and that Allah will compensate him with something better if he leaves it for His sake. If he responds, then she may marry him; otherwise, she should not, because he would feed her and her children from unlawful earnings.
