Is it true that Allah the Almighty provided relief to people every time the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed for rain (Salat Al-Istisqa), and what is the evidence for that?

The description of the Prophet's supplication for rain (Istisqa') varied. Some instances occurred during the Istisqa' prayer, and others during the Friday sermon. The apparent meaning of the texts indicates that Allah answered his supplication every time.

This is supported by the statement of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him: "O Allah, we used to seek intercession with You through our Prophet, and You would grant us rain. And now we seek intercession with You through the uncle of our Prophet, so grant us rain." This indicates that the Prophet's supplication was always answered.

The answering of his supplication has been confirmed in detailed accounts. Among them is what Anas ibn Malik narrated concerning a man who entered the mosque on Friday and asked the Prophet to supplicate for rain. The Prophet then raised his hands and said: "O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain! O Allah, grant us rain!" Immediately, the clouds gathered, and it rained.

Another instance is the hadith narrated by Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, regarding the Prophet's going out for the Istisqa' prayer. He raised his hands until the whiteness of his armpits was visible, and he turned his cloak. Then Allah created a cloud that thundered and lightened, and then it rained by Allah's permission, so much so that torrents flowed before he reached his mosque.
