The answer

If you know that a person will use the phone or television for unlawful purposes, it is not permissible for you to buy them for him, as this constitutes aiding in sin. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "If a man aids in disobeying Allah, he is sinful, because he has aided in sin and aggression." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed those who cooperate in relation to intoxicants. Just as it is forbidden to sell weapons to one who will fight with them, so too should one not assist someone who intends to view or listen to unlawful things by providing the device that enables them to do so. If you have already bought it, then you must advise and guide them, and remind them of the obligation to avoid using it to see and hear what Allah has forbidden.
