Which of the two events occurred first: the Children of Israel's request to see God, or their taking of the Calf? And what is the correct chronological order of events between Surat Al-Baqarah and Surat An-Nisa?

What is indicated by the verses in Surat An-Nisa is that the Children of Israel's worship of the calf occurred after their request to see Allah Almighty, as in His saying: "Indeed, they asked Moses for [something] greater than that, for they said, 'Show us Allah outright,' so the thunderbolt struck them for their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf [for worship] after clear proofs had come to them." This confirms that taking the calf [for worship] was after they were revived from the thunderbolt that struck them for their request to see Allah outright. As for Surat Al-Baqarah, there is nothing in it to indicate that their worship of the calf was before their request to see Allah, and the mention of the request to see [Allah] after the mention of taking the calf in the verses does not indicate chronological order.
