It is permissible to delay the Maghrib prayer and combine it with the 'Isha' prayer by way of jam' ta'khir (combining by delaying), because the questioner is considered a traveler as soon as he leaves his town, and the distance between his town and his destination exceeds the distance for shortening prayers (qasr). The distance is calculated between the point of departure and the point of arrival, regardless of transient stops. Combining prayers for a traveler is permissible according to the majority of scholars.
