The question

What is the ruling on two men selling a commodity equally owned by them, if one of them instructs a relative of his to buy it after an deferred sale, knowing the buyer's desire to sell it for cash, with a promise to his relative of profit and repurchase? And what is incumbent upon him?

The answer

If the seller buys back his merchandise for cash at the same price or more than what he sold it for, there is no harm in that. However, if he buys it back for less than what he sold it for on credit, then this is considered a prohibited 'inah (buy-back) sale.
