What is the ruling regarding a father who does not spend on his children, does not ask about them, and curses them and their mother?

Answering the question:

A father who refrains from spending on his deserving children, or curses and abandons them without just cause, is considered oppressive and sinful. Although the children are excused for disliking him due to his injustice, this does not negate his right to dutifulness and companionship with kindness. Therefore, it is obligatory for them not to be disobedient or sever ties with him. Even if the father is a polytheist who commands polytheism, Allah has commanded to accompany him with kindness. Filial piety is among the best deeds beloved by Allah, and patience with their injustice is one of the greatest means to attain Allah's pleasure. The Lord's pleasure is in the father's pleasure, and it is the middle gate of Paradise.
