What is the ruling on someone who utters words that are an insinuation of divorce due to anger and distress, then experiences intrusive thoughts that he intended something else, leading him to doubt his intention?

The divorce has not occurred as long as the questioner is afflicted with obsessive thoughts (waswasa) and did not intend divorce with the words he uttered, as they are allusive (kinayat) and not explicit. The divorce of one afflicted with waswasa does not occur even if he states it explicitly. The questioner should seek refuge with Allah from Satan and consult specialists in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
