What is the ruling on holding a celebration and offering a gift to a teacher whom we have angered, in order to apologize to him?

The default ruling on gifts is that they are recommended, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Give gifts, and you will love each other." However, an exception to this is giving gifts to a judge or someone in a similar position, in order to block the means to bribery. A gift from a student or their guardian to a teacher, if intended to curry favor with the student to raise their grades or give them an advantage over others, is considered a bribe, and it is forbidden for the teacher to take it. If there is no ill intention associated with it, then taking it is not forbidden, such as if it is for love and to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. It appears that the gift mentioned falls into this category, so there is no harm in it.
