What is the ruling on men wearing watches encrusted with diamonds?

The jurists differed on the ruling regarding a man adorning himself with precious jewels other than gold and silver: The Maliki and Hanbali schools, and some Hanafis, held it permissible. The Hanafis held it forbidden. The Shafi'i school and some Hanbalis deemed it disliked (makrooh), due to the potential for extravagance and imitation of women therein. This latter opinion is the closest to correctness. Therefore, a man wearing a watch encrusted with diamonds is disliked (makrooh).
