Is it permissible to kill frogs for the purpose of study and dissection, and is it true that the Messenger (peace be upon him) forbade that?

There is no religious impediment to dissecting animals, including frogs, and using them for legitimate purposes that benefit people. Killing a frog for no benefit is disliked due to the prohibition mentioned in the Hadith against killing it. However, it is permissible to kill it if it is harmful or for a recognized benefit, though it is preferable to leave it if another (animal) can take its place.
