Is the love of this world a sin, and is it related to the obsessive whispers that the questioner is suffering from, and does one who loves this world have no share in the Hereafter, and is what he thinks—that this is a punishment from Allah—correct, or is it from the wiles of Satan?

God may punish a person with psychological instability if worldly desires dominate their heart. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever makes the Hereafter his preoccupation, Allah will place richness in his heart, gather his affairs for him, and the world will come to him submissively. And whoever makes the world his preoccupation, Allah will place poverty before his eyes, scatter his affairs for him, and nothing of the world will come to him except what has been decreed for him." Furthermore, excessive indulgence in food and drink, and following the desires of the self, distances one from Allah Almighty, even if it is in permissible matters, due to the extravagance and preoccupation it entails from what Allah Almighty intended for creation, as He said: "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." A person is accountable for their life, wealth, knowledge, and body.
