What is the interpretation of the Almighty’s saying: (O you who have believed, fear Allah and seek means [of nearness] to Him) [Al-Ma'idah/35], to refute the Sufis in their saying regarding the permissibility of seeking intercession through prophets and saints, and concerning the narration of Adam and his committing the sin, and their saying that Al-Bayhaqi authenticated the Hadith and Al-Dhahabi praised the book?

The hadith about Adam's intercession through the Prophet (peace be upon him) for his sin is fabricated and forged. The supplication through which Adam's repentance was accepted is that which is mentioned in Surat Al-A'raf: "They said, 'Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.'" And the interpretation of the word "Al-Waseelah" in His (Allah's) saying, "O you who have believed, fear Allah and seek means [of nearness] to Him," means the path that leads to Allah Almighty, which is drawing closer to Him by obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions in accordance with what the Prophet (peace be upon him) brought, with sincere devotion to Allah Almighty.
