The answer

One must hasten to repentance, listen to admonitions, and study books of encouragement and warning to understand the dangers of sins. Repentance must be sincere, solely for the sake of Allah, not to preserve status or wealth, or to seek people's praise. The door to repentance is open until the sun rises from the west. Allah is Forgiving and Merciful; He forgives all sins.

One must strive against the self to abandon disobedience and perform acts of obedience, seek righteous companionship, attend gatherings of remembrance and knowledge, fill free time with beneficial activities, and frequently supplicate. Remembering Allah's watchful eye and His observation at all times helps one remain steadfast.

Occasionally committing a sin, followed by seeking forgiveness and not persisting in it, will be forgiven by Allah. Allah forgives sins, no matter how great, as long as there is sincerity in repentance and remorse. However, one should not continue to commit sins relying solely on Allah's mercy.
