What is the ruling on eating meat in a foreign country where there is no access to ritually slaughtered (halal) meat and slaughtering is prohibited?

It is not permissible to travel for study in the lands of the disbelievers if study is available in the lands of thevers, nor is it permissible to reside in the lands of the disbelievers except out of necessity (treatment, trade, da'wah, or study that is not available in Muslim lands and cannot be dispensed with), provided the Shariah conditions for study are met. It is not permissible to eat from non-Shar'i slaughtered animals in the lands of the disbelievers. One may eat seafood or non-meat products, and search for Islamic centers that provide halal meat.
