What is your advice to a young man who is aware of his religious issues, yet still has remnants of the dark period of adolescence within him?

We advise the questioner to stay away from bad companions and to draw close to and associate with good people, as Allah Almighty says: (O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with the truthful) and His saying: (And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord by morning and evening, seeking His countenance). A righteous environment has its effect, as in the story of the man who killed ninety-nine souls. We also advise him to attend lessons, lectures, and gatherings of knowledge, and to occupy his free time with what benefits him in his religion and his worldly life.
