How does one achieve purity (tahara) when masturbating during menstruation?

Masturbation is forbidden in all circumstances. If a menstruating woman masturbates and semen is discharged, she is not required to perform ghusl (ritual bath) until she becomes pure from her menstruation. However, it is recommended for her to perform ghusl. If she delays the ghusl until her menstruation stops, she should perform ghusl with the intention of purifying herself from both menstruation and janaba (ritual impurity requiring ghusl), or for menstruation alone, in which case the janaba will also be lifted. The method of ghusl is the same in both cases: to wash the entire body with water along with the intention.
