Are all human actions and lives predetermined by God before their birth, or do they have freedom of choice and action?

The states of human beings include those that are compulsory, in which they have no choice, and thus no reward or punishment is incurred. And among them are those in which they are given a choice, such as belief and disbelief. All actions of human beings do not fall outside the will, volition, and decree of Allah. Belief in divine decree (Qadar) is a fundamental pillar of Islam. For Allah, glory be to Him, is All-Knowing, All-Powerful, and All-Willing. He knew the actions of His servants eternally, wrote them down, and willed them. However, this does not mean that Allah compelled people to do them; rather, they are given a choice. And Allah Almighty's willing of things does not necessarily mean His approval of them. For some willed things are not for their own sake, but rather as a means to another end that is beloved to Him. So Allah may dislike something for its own sake yet will it because it is a means to something more beloved to Him, such as the creation of Iblis, who is a source of corruption but is a means to many things beloved to Allah Almighty.
