Is it permissible to place a wrapped Mushaf in front of a worshipper during congregational prayer with the intention of drawing closer to Allah, and is it permissible for another worshipper to remove it for fear that it might be an innovation?

If a worshiper intentionally places the Mus'haf (Quran) in his Qibla (direction of prayer), seeking blessings or intending to pray towards it, then this is not legislated for him and is considered an innovation (bid'ah). The Salaf (early Muslims) disliked placing the Mus'haf between the worshiper and his Qibla. It was reported from Ibn 'Umar that he disliked praying with anything, even a Mus'haf, between him and his Qibla. Imam Malik was asked about the Mus'haf in the Qibla, and he said: "If it was placed there specifically to pray towards it, then there is no good in it. But if it is simply its designated place and where it is hung, then I see no harm in that." The Prophet, peace be upon him, did not legislate such an act, and whoever innovates in religion something that Allah and His Messenger have not permitted, it will be rejected.
