What should I do when my mother asks me for something while I am on my way to perform congregational prayer at the mosque?

Obeying one's mother and praying in the mosque are both obligatory, and both duties must be combined. If the mother orders something that is not urgent, going to the mosque takes precedence, and then her request should be fulfilled quickly, because obedience to Allah comes first. However, if her request is urgent, it can be fulfilled before the prayer if possible. If the mother insists on abandoning congregational prayer, then she is not to be obeyed, as there is "no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator." However, if the mother is sick and requires his care, this is an excuse for not attending the congregation.
