What is the ruling on a wife's insistence on seeking divorce from her husband who repents and then returns to sins, and neglects his work, knowing that they have a daughter, and the wife fears that her daughter will be deprived of her father?

Advise the wife to return to her husband and demand her rights of maintenance and conjugal relations in a goodly manner. She should strive to counsel him, remind him of Allah, encourage him to associate with the righteous, and cooperate with him in obeying Allah, while persistently supplicating for his guidance. If he does not straighten himself out, she should consult the wise among her family and weigh the harm of divorce against the harm of remaining with him, choosing the lesser of the two harms.
