What should a husband do regarding his wife who is seeking divorce after returning to him, knowing that she does not respect her home, her husband, or her children?
We believe you should be patient and not rush into divorcing your wife. Instead, try to mend the situation and resolve the problems. If it requires appeasing her with some provisions, there is no harm, in order to preserve your children. The wife should fear Allah and fulfill her marital duties completely. If she does so, she will attain good in this world and the hereafter, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a woman prays her five [daily prayers], fasts her month [Ramadan], obeys her husband, and guards her chastity, she will enter Paradise." Her family should help her in this, and they should know that if they attempt to cause discord between her and her husband, they are instigators, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not of us who instigates a woman against her husband." If she refuses loyalty and reconciliation and insists on seeking a divorce without a valid reason, then she is disobedient, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any woman who asks her husband for a divorce without any harm (justification), the scent of Paradise will be forbidden to her." In this case, you may refuse to divorce her until she pays you money, and it is best that this does not exceed what you paid her as dowry and similar.
