What is the ruling on money inherited from land cultivated with a plant from which "tobacco" is extracted, and is it permissible to spend it on buying books or traveling to seek knowledge if the family will not respond to the refusal to accept it?

It is not permissible to lease land to someone who will cultivate crops used in the tobacco industry. The lease must be terminated if it has already been executed, because that falls under cooperation in sin. The rent received from such a lease is unlawful and must be spent on the welfare of Muslims. It is permissible to give some of it to a poor student of knowledge to purchase books or to travel in pursuit of knowledge. The family and intermediaries should be advised and persuaded of the Sharia ruling.
