What are the practical steps a Muslim can take to avoid a bad destiny?

To overcome tribulations, a servant must:

1. Correctness of Belief: Knowing Allah by His names and attributes, and believing in His decree and destiny, which leads to submission, patience, and contentment.

2. Rectifying the Path to Allah through Istighfar (seeking forgiveness) and Sincere Repentance: Regretting sins, abandoning them, and resolving not to return to them, for tribulations descend due to sin and are not lifted except by repentance.

3. Replacing Bad Deeds with Good Ones and Following Evil Deeds with Good Deeds: Adhering to the fear of Allah and His constant watch, and remaining steadfast in obeying His commands and prohibitions. For whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.

4. Insisting in Supplication to Allah: With good expectations and sincere reliance, for supplication benefits both what has descended and what has not.
