The answer

It is legislated to ask Allah by His Most Beautiful Names, such as "Ya Allah" and "Ya Rahman," and to seek intercession with Him through His attributes, such as "I ask You by Your knowledge and Your power." However, it is not permissible to supplicate to an attribute in isolation, such as "O Mercy of Allah." It is disliked to ask for worldly things by Allah's Face, because His Face is too great to be asked by, except for Paradise. The "Image" () for Allah is a confirmed attribute for Him, Glorified be He, befitting His majesty, and it does not resemble the images of creation.
