What does a husband get in return, according to Sharia, for bearing the costs of marriage, providing housing and maintenance (basic necessities and luxuries), and the full responsibility of Qawamah (guardianship/maintenance)?

Marriage is a great blessing and a solemn covenant based on love and mercy. It encompasses religious and worldly benefits, and a righteous wife is considered among the best provisions of this world. The money a man spends on marriage is minor in comparison to the benefits of marriage. Moreover, it is obligatory for the husband to spend on his wife, because she is confined for his right, and this spending should be sufficient for food, housing, and clothing, according to what is customary. The dowry is a form of honoring the woman and demonstrating desire for her.
