If a man says to his wife, "This is your divorce," in response to her walking on her feet, scholars have differed regarding this wording. The most preponderant opinion is that it is an implicit (kinayah) divorce and not an explicit (sareeh) one, because it can bear several interpretations, such as: "If you walk on your feet, this is the cause of your divorce." Accordingly, a divorce does not occur unless the husband intended divorce with this implicit wording.
