Are the litanies of the Tijaniyya tariqa considered bid'ah (innovation) and misguidance, or are they based on foundations from the Quran and Sunnah and reached Ahmad al-Tijani through the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, as the husband believes?

No person of intellect doubts the deviance of the Tijaniyya, and that they follow an innovated religion contrary to what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, brought. Among the proofs of their deviance is their belief that the (Salat al-Fatih) was exclusively revealed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for the Tijani. And the Prophet's reservation of this litany for the Tijani, and his not teaching it to any of the Companions, is disbelief by scholarly consensus. They claim that one recitation of the Salat al-Fatih equals every glorification, remembrance, and supplication in existence, and that it equals reciting the Qur'an six thousand times. This is disbelief and apostasy from Islam.

Among their beliefs concerning this innovated prayer are the requirement of water purification for its recitation, but not tayammum (dry ablution); their belief in the unity of existence (wahdat al-wujud) and that all religions are true; and their belief in seeing the Messenger while awake and receiving direct instruction from him. They also believe that followers of al-Tijani will enter Paradise without accountability, and they seek aid from their shaykhs and invoke them instead of Allah, believing that Allah will not accept them except through these shaykhs.
