What is the ruling on a wife traveling a distance of over 500 km with her female colleagues and elderly professors from the university for the purpose of study, and is a mahram required for her?

A woman is not permitted to travel except with a mahram, according to the hadith: "A woman shall not travel except with a mahram." However, if the husband or one of her mahrams is unable to travel with her, and she needs to undertake this academic journey to the extent that her studies would be harmed if she missed it, and the company is trustworthy, then she is permitted to travel with that company. She must adhere to Islamic regulations such as wearing the hijab, maintaining modesty, and avoiding unlawful khalwa (private seclusion) and mixing.
