How can a servant achieve Tawhid for Allah Almighty?

The realization of Tawhid (monotheism) comprises two levels: obligatory and recommended. The obligatory level is achieved by abandoning shirk (polytheism) of all kinds, abandoning innovations (bid'ah), and abandoning sins. The recommended level is for the heart to have no inclination or attachment to anything other than Allah.

The realization of these two levels requires: 1. Knowledge: Learning what rectifies belief, speech, and action. 2. Firm Affirmation: Certainty in what has been revealed by Allah and His Prophet. 3. Submission and Compliance: Performing commands and refraining from prohibitions.

Those who achieve the highest level of Tawhid are the seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment. They are those "who do not seek ruqyah (incantation), nor practice tatyir (superstitious omens), nor cauterize, and upon their Lord they rely." The common characteristic among them is the perfection of reliance upon Allah, as they do not concern themselves with means but attach themselves solely to their Lord.

The realization of Tawhid is not by wishful thinking, but by what is firmly established in the hearts from the tenets of faith and the realities of excellence, confirmed by beautiful character and righteous deeds.
