How many prophets and messengers did Allah Almighty send to the Jews, and how did the Jews deal with each one of them?
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed us about the number of prophets and messengers. In Imam Ahmad's Musnad, Abu Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: "The messengers were three hundred and a few over ten, a vast multitude." In a narration by Abu Umamah, Abu Dharr said: "The number of prophets was one hundred and twenty-four thousand, and among them, the messengers were three hundred and fifteen, a vast multitude."
There is no text that specifies the number of prophets and messengers whom Allah sent to the Jews, nor can we know how the Jews dealt with each one of them. The Holy Quran explicitly states that they used to belie or kill any messenger who did not conform to their desires. Allah Almighty said: "Is it that whenever there came to you a messenger with what your souls desired not, you grew arrogant? Some you disbelieved and some you killed." (Al-Baqarah: 87).
