Is it obligatory for me to reconcile with my son, who raises his voice at me and has been quarreling with me for two years, so that he can get married, even though my heart does not desire to do so?
If a son raises his voice at his father and quarrels with him, he has committed an act of disobedience (ʿuqūq), which is one of the grave sins. He should be advised and reminded of Allah so that he may repent and seek forgiveness from his father. The father is urged to pardon and accept reconciliation, for there is immense reward in it, as reconciliation is best.
