When should one stop remembering God in the home due to seeing immodestly dressed women, and is it permissible to close one's eyes during remembrance in the presence of people? And is remembering God while looking at an immodestly dressed woman considered a desecration that expels one from the faith?
(repentance) from displaying one's adornments (tabarruj) is obligatory if it is in front of men to whom it is unlawful to show one's adornments. Refraining from the remembrance of Allah due to the presence of women who display their adornments is a form of waswasah (whispers from Satan), for the transgressions of those who display their adornments do not preclude remembrance. It is not necessary to close one's eyes during remembrance when there are women displaying their adornments, especially since a woman is permitted to look at the entire body of another woman, except for what is between the navel and the knee, unless it is with lust, in which case it is forbidden.
