What is the ruling on a person feeling that everything around them – bedding, clothes, and possessions – is impure after purifying themselves from masturbation? Is the fluid that is discharged before semen impure? Is it obligatory to wash everything that has been touched by semen or the fluid that is discharged before it? Is it obligatory to purify places that were touched by semen in previous periods, even if some of them are not remembered? Is this condition considered a form of waswasah (obsessive whispering)?

It is obligatory to repent from masturbation. Scholars have differed concerning semen (manī), and the preponderant opinion is that it is pure, so it is not obligatory to wash whatever it touches. As for the fluid that exits before semen, if it is pre-seminal fluid (madhī), then it is obligatory to wash it and whatever it touches. But if it is semen, then washing it is not obligatory, but rather recommended. The passage of time does not purify an impurity, and whatever is doubted to be impure is considered pure. Obsessive whispering (waswasa) is dangerous, and one must turn away from it.
