Is it permissible to disobey one's father and refuse to give him money to help him with non-essential matters, or is it obligatory to take out a bank loan to fulfill his request?

A father is permitted to take from his son's wealth what he needs, provided that it does not harm the son or take that which the son is in need of. This is based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "You and your wealth belong to your father." The majority of jurists hold the view that the father must be in need of the money, while the Hanbalis permit taking it whether there is a need or not. However, if the son does not have surplus wealth, he is not obliged to borrow, and it is not permissible to borrow from interest-based banks in compliance with the father's request, because "there is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to the Creator."
