What is the authenticity of the tradition narrated from Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the verse: (Whoever comes with a good deed will have ten times its like, and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except with its like), and what are the ten blameworthy characteristics that result from an evil deed?

The narration attributed to Umar ibn al-Khattab in Ibn al-Jawzi's "Bahr al-Dumoo'" (Sea of Tears), which states that an evil deed is followed by ten reprehensible traits, is weak and not authentic from him. Its poor construction indicates its unauthenticity and its absence from the books of Sunnah and narrations. Furthermore, the statement that a sin absolutely incurs Allah's wrath is incorrect, as a sin may be followed by repentance that pleases Allah, and perhaps the repenting person may be in a better state after repentance. As for the claim that a sin grieves the Prophet, peace be upon him, in his grave, there is no evidence for it. The entire narration is not authentic from Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, and its meanings are not sound, and its wording is weak, which is characteristic of fabricated narrations. What suffices instead is what was narrated from Urwah ibn al-Zubayr: "If you see a man doing a good deed, know that he has sisters [of good deeds] with him, for a good deed points to its sister. And if you see him committing an evil deed, know that he has sisters [of evil deeds] with him, for an evil deed points to its sister." However, this does not mean that whoever commits an evil deed will be afflicted with all the calamities mentioned in the contested narration.
