Who is responsible for marrying and divorcing a minor and an insane person?

Scholars agree that a father may marry off his young son. As for guardians other than the father, the majority of jurists permit them to marry off a minor. However, the Shafi'is stated that this is permissible only for the father and the paternal grandfather.

Regarding the divorce of the wife of an insane person or a minor, it is not permissible for the father or anyone else to divorce her, according to the majority of scholars. If a father marries off his young or insane son, jurists differ on whether the father has the right to annul this marriage.
