The answer

It is permissible to work in foreign institutions if the work itself is free of Sharia prohibitions. The basic principle is the permissibility of dealing with disbelievers in buying and selling what is permissible by Sharia, provided that it does not result in general harm or corruption for Muslims. The statements of the فقهاء (jurists) have indicated the permissibility of trading with belligerents, but it is not permissible to supply them with weapons and their implements that strengthen them, nor to allow trading in Sharia-forbidden items such as alcohol and swine. Likewise, it is not permissible for a belligerent who has been granted safe conduct (musta'min) to purchase weapons from Islamic lands.
