To what extent is the hadith "The freest of women are those who keep their distance from men" authentic, and what does it mean if its authenticity is established?

This hadith with this wording has not been reported. However, it was reported in Musnad al-Bazzar and (Hilyat al-Awliya') from Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, that Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, said in response to the Prophet's, peace and blessings be upon him, question: "What is best for women?" She replied: "That they do not see men, nor do men see them." Its chain of transmission was deemed weak by al-Iraqi, al-Haythami, and al-Muttaqi al-Hindi. This weak hadith is superseded by the Almighty's saying: "And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of [the former] times of ignorance." This verse indicates the command for women to stay in their homes and forbids them from going out without need.
