Is a dream interpreted as good, or as what is spoken within oneself?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

There is no harm in a person being optimistic about good fortune upon seeing a dream, and having it interpreted by those with experience and knowledge. However, it is not permissible for someone who lacks such knowledge to do so, as Imam Malik said: "Only one who is skilled in interpreting dreams should interpret them." Therefore, knowledge of the principles of interpretation is essential, and the interpreter must be among the people of virtue, righteousness, and perspicacity. It is not permissible to interpret a dream merely by looking into interpretation books, as dreams vary according to individuals, circumstances, and times. Every Muslim must prepare for death by repenting and returning to Allah the Almighty.
