Is interpreting dreams to oneself without speaking them considered interpretation and does it occur?
The interpretation of a dream may be correct or incorrect, and a dream may come true even if it is not interpreted. Whoever sees a good dream should praise Allah for it and speak of it only to those whom he loves, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A good dream is from Allah, so if any of you sees what he loves, he should not speak of it except to one whom he loves." And whoever sees what he dislikes, let him seek refuge with Allah from its evil and from the evil of Satan, and let him spit (dryly) three times, and not speak of it to anyone, for it will not harm him, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If any of you sees a dream that he likes, it is from Allah, so let him praise Allah for it and speak of it. And if he sees something else that he dislikes, it is only from Satan, so let him seek refuge from its evil and not mention it to anyone, for it will not harm him." The wisdom in not speaking of a good dream to one whom he does not love is the fear that he might interpret it in a way that you dislike, which could cause sorrow and distress.
