Is it permissible to listen to the Noble Qur’an in the bathroom while one’s 'awrah is exposed?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The scholars have stipulated the disliking of reciting the Qur'an or making mention of Allah in the restroom due to its impurity. However, listening to the Qur'an while bathing or relieving oneself is permissible, because Allah is not being mentioned inside the restroom, and the recording device is outside of it. It has been narrated from the Salaf what indicates the permissibility of this; such as the action of Abu Hatim al-Razi and his son Abd al-Rahman, and the imamate of al-Majd Ibn Taymiyyah for his son, where they would recite or listen to the Qur'an in places of relieving oneself to utilize the time.
