What is the way to deal with a father who dislikes praying in congregation, and my soul has come to detest being gentle with him?

Congregational prayer is obligatory, according to the preponderant opinion. You should continue to advise your father gently and wisely, and do not despair of inviting him [to righteousness]. Be kind to him and do not mistreat him. Obey them [your parents] in what is good, and if they were disbelievers, then it is even more incumbent [to obey them] if they are mistaken or remiss in religious matters.
